Police officers, who were on morning patrol, were informed by concerned neighbours that the two girls, aged 14 and 22, had been locked in the house.
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers broke into the house and rescued the girls who were greatly traumatized.

The sisters said that they woke up in the morning of October 29 to a locked door. She added that her mother, who was not locked up with them, used to feed them through a small opening in the window throughout the whole period.
"Mum would bring us food through the window every day, she used to sleep at her friend’s house," said the 22-year-old who is a third year student at Multimedia University.
The girls' mother said that she was afraid to report the incident to the police because she thought she would be arrested for defaulting.
"I owe the house agent Sh21,000. I could not raise that money urgently so they locked my house. Unfortunately they locked my kids there too," she said.

The OCPD Nakuru subdivision, Mr Joshua Omukata, who confirmed the incident said the two girls will remain in police custody as they undergo interrogation. He also urged landlords and agents to follow appropriate procedures when a client defaults to pay rent.
"There have never been such cases in this area, the police are tracking down the owner of that apartment as we endeavor to solve the issue," said Omukata.

46 Nigerians Soldiers officially declared missing

Military sources said the declaration and notification were contained in a November 20 notice sent by M. Jimoh, the new commander of the Nigerian Army 145 Task Force Battalion in Damasak, Borno State.

According to Premium Times, Mr. Jimoh, a lieutenant colonel, sent the signal to the 145 Battalion rear base in Ohafia, Abia State, and copied the Army 7 Division Headquarters in Maiduguri and 82 Division Garrison in Enugu.

Also copied were 5 Battalion in Kano; 20 Battalion in Serti, Taraba State; 103 Battalion in Enugu and 119 Battalion in Malam Fatori, Borno State.

Also in receipt of the signal were 143 Infantry Battalion for special forces in Borno State; 144 Battalion in Asa, Abia State; and 146 Battalion in Calabar.

Each of the battalions copied in the signal had soldiers that were part of those missing.

Mr. Jimoh recently replaced K. Yusuf, a lieutenant colonel who is identified as the commander of the 145 Task Force Battalion and believed to be among the missing soldiers.

Sadly, some of the soldiers are believed to have drowned in River Yobe during Boko Haram attack.

Update! HIV-positive Malawian man jailed for 24 months...photo

An HIV-positive Malawian man has been sentenced to 24 months in jail with hard labour, after being found guilty for having unprotected sex with newly bereaved widows, local journalist Alfred Guta has told the BBC.

Malawi's President Peter Mutharika had ordered the arrest of Eric Aniva, a sex worker known locally as a "hyena", after he admitted in a BBC interview to having sex with more than 100 women and underage girls and not disclosing his HIV status.

His lawyer, Michael Goba Chipeta, said Aniva would appeal against the conviction and the sentence.

The practice of "widow cleansing", when a widow must have sex after her husband dies, was outlawed a few years ago.

Aniva was the subject of a BBC feature into various sexual cleansing practices in Malawi.

The president had wanted him tried for defiling young girls, but none came forward to testify against him.

Instead Aniva was tried for "harmful cultural practice" under section five of Malawi's Gender Equality Act for having sex with new widows.

In some remote southern regions of the country it is traditional for girls to be made to have sex with a man after their first menstruation.

Last year Malawi banned child marriage, raising the legal age of marriage from 15 to 18 - something activists hoped would put an end to early sexual initiations.

A car thief, who uses a device he called ‘Try Your Luck Key’ to steal vehicles from where they are parked, has landed in police net in Enugu.

The suspect, Ikechukwu Isaiah, reportedly hails from Abia State but resides in New Nyanya, Nasarawa State.

Southern City News learnt that the police in Enugu had been on Isaiah’s trail since August, when he stole a Toyota Camry, with registration number BJ 697 UWN.

It was gathered that Isaiah stole the vehicle from where it was parked at Otigba junction in Enugu.

Isaiah was said to have committed the crime on the same day he arrived Enugu from Abuja.

The spokesman, Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the development, said Isaiah stole the vehicle shortly after the commercial transit bus which brought him to Enugu dropped him at Otigba junction in the early hours.

Amaraizu added that the suspect had changed the colour and registration number of the stolen vehicle before he was arrested in Nasarawa State.

Isaiah’s arrest was made possible by intelligence information from the New Haven Division of the Enugu State Police Command, according to Amaraizu.

The police spokesman said, “The suspect specialised in stealing cars from where they are parked, using a key he referred to as Try Your Luck Key.

“In August, he stole a Toyota Camry, 1996 model, from where it was parked at Otigba junction in Enugu, with the key.

“He stole the car shortly after he disembarked from the commercial transit bus that brought him to Enugu from Abuja.”

Isaiah, who is currently in police custody in Enugu, is assisting in the ongoing investigations into his nefarious activities, according to Amaraizu.

The police spokesman added that the suspect would be arraigned soon.

Update! Toyin Aimakhu's ex boyfriend, Seun Egbegbe releases a statement about stolen phones...

Earlier yesterday, Toyin Aimakhu's ex-boyfriend, Seun Egbegbe was accused of stealing iPhones at Computer Village and was allegedly beaten by an angry mob. He has now released a statement denying he stole iPhone as was widely reported. In a statement released to journalists, he said:

"My attention has been drawn to an online publication of the aforementioned. The story is pretty laughable and better left in the court of public opinion. Ordinarily, 1 do not want to join issues with the writer of the publication but I have a responsibility to set the records straight for my fans, friends and foes , in the defence of the truth.
"To say the least, the news did not only grossly misinform unsuspecting public; it also portrays traces of campaign of calumny by some mercenary hirelings hell bent in destroying my name, for reasons best known to them.
"Having read with keen interest the completely self-serving spirited attempt to destroy my person, it has become imperative and timely that a rejoinder is written to state the fact clearly. "I want to state here categorically and emphatically that though I was at Computer Village to address some issues, but I was never arrested for stealing 10 I phone 7s, as stated by the writer of the story, the matter has since been resolved by the Nigeria Police; and the issue of me stealing phone is devilish from the said writer.
"Furthermore, It is rather unfortunate that the said writer will amount to cheap blackmail to deceive the unsuspecting public with a view of gaining cheap popularity.
"It is germane to note that I am a charitable, humane, and grass root person, who has exhibited selflessness in communal service, which have used as a veritable tool for social development.
"Finally, I wish to inform the general public to discard the report. I am presently at home relaxing!"

US bus driver charged with manslaughter after six children die in horrific bus crash ...photo

A Tennessee school bus driver has been arrested after crashing the school bus and killing at least five children.
A 24-year-old Johnthony Walker was charged with multiple counts of vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment and reckless driving, Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher told CNN late Monday night. He is considered INNOCENT until proven guilty.

The bus that Walker was driving first hit the trash can then hit  crashed and wrapped around a tree Monday afternoon, and five children died at the scene. The sixth child died at the hospital.

One of the children in the bus who survived the accident said Walker was speeding. The child said:
“He was going real fast and he hit a garbage bag,” the boy said. “And we then hit a mailbox, then we flipped over and hit a tree real hard.”

Police believe he also drove recklessly at the time of the crash.
There were 35 children on the school bus. Twenty-three of the children were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Parents were seen at the scene crying while others heaved a sigh of relief when they saw their kids alive.

Of the five children confirmed dead after the Monday afternoon bus crash, three were fourth-graders at Woodmore Elementary School, one was a first-grader and one was a kindergartner, according to Kirk Kelly, interim superintendent for Hamilton County Schools. Six students remain hospitalized in the intensive care unit, and six are in regular rooms at the hospital, Kelly said.

Investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.

Photo of two men convicted in Zamfara court for money laundering...

Justice Fatima Murtala of the Federal High Court Gusau, Zamfara State on November 22, 2016 convicted the duo of Gambo Lawal Tsafe and Kasimu Mohammed on a two count charge of offences bordering on money laundering.
The convicts, a Director and Accountant both in ZASUBEB were arraigned before the same court by the EFCC on the June 12, 2016 on a three count charge bordering on conspiracy and money laundering. Upon their arraignment, they pleaded not guilty but in today's proceedings, they changed their plea from not guilty to guilty to the two count amended charge. Their change of plea was sequel to a plea bargain agreement they entered with the prosecution.

In view of their latest plea, prosecution counsel, M.S Abubakar urged the court to convict them accordingly. While reviewing the facts of the case, Abubakar told the court that one Nasiru Nahoro, a contractor with the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZASUBEB) was awarded a contract by the board under the chairmanship of one Murtala Adamu who is facing a ten count charge of money laundering before the same court to the tune of over N30, 000,000 (Thirty Million Naira Only). The contract was for the construction of office block at the board in the sum of N74, 000,000.

However, it was gathered that the chairman of the board, Murtala Adamu had received the sum of N7, 400,000 as gratification which is a 10% of the total contract sum through the account of the first convict, Gambo Lawal. The first convict after taking his share of N160, 000, he transferred the rest of N7, 165,000 to the second convict.

Subsequently, the second convict withdrew cash in the sum of N7, 145,000 and took same to the board chairman. In the process, the second convict retained the sum of N20, 000 (Twenty Thousand Naira Only) as his own share.
After the review of the facts, Justice Murtala convicted the defendants after they told her that they understand the facts of the case and believed same to be true.
Defense Counsel, Muqaddis Aliyu, pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy as the convicts were first time offenders and they did not waste the time of the court. He added that the convicts family men with children.

Prosecution counsel on the other hand confirmed to the court that the convicts have no record of conviction; he however urged the court to consider Section 17(b) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act (2011) which indicates imprisonment of not less than five years or a fine of five times the total sum involved.
The case has been adjourned to tomorrowNovember 23, 2016 for sentence.
