Police divers in Bulgaria have discovered about €13m (£11.7m) in fake banknotes hidden in a reservoir.

Officials said bundles of counterfeit €500 notes were found after a tip-off.

The exact size of the haul will not be known until the notes are fully dried.

Three Bulgarians have been arrested and a number of weapons seized. One of the people arrested, the owner of a printing company, had already been sentenced to six years in prison for counterfeiting money.

Chief prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov said the find was "one of the largest amounts of counterfeit euros ever encountered".

He said the fakes were "of an extremely high quality".

But another official said some of them did not carry holograms.

It happened at the Mechka reservoir near the town of Purvomai in southern Bulgaria.

The European Central Bank is due to phase out the €500 note because of fears that it helps criminal activities.

In 2013, Portuguese police seized €380,000 in fake €200 notes of "exceptional quality".

Governor Fayose suspends Anti-Grazing marshals in Ekiti State

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, has suspended the operations of the Grazing Enforcement Marshall, established to enforce the state’s Anti-Grazing Act which prohibits herdsmen from grazing their cattle in non-designated areas.

Governor Fayose suspended the Marshalls operations following a meeting with leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder’s Association in Ado-Ekiti where the herdsmen alleged that the Marshalls were indiscriminately ‎killing their cattle.
Fayose on hearing this allegation, immediately suspended the operations of the Marshalls.
“The marshals are not armed. There is total misinformation about killing of cows, shooting of cows. It is pure political and misinformation. So, when we leave here, I am going to go show them their cows, where they are kept and because of the accord and their understanding after the Thursday meeting I will release the cows to them for them to know that we are not extremists. All I want is people obeying our laws and collaborating together in the overall interest of our state. They have assured me that they are ready to cooperate, they have accepted the marshals. They only want to be part of the marshals so that they can equally enforce these laws with us because they know their people very well and they assured me that nobody among the herdsmen will go and use their cattle to feed on the farmlands and attack any of the citizens,” he said

Goodluck Jonathan ready to appear in court- Dasuki's counsel says over $2.1bn arms fraud

Counsel to embattled Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, Ahmed Raji (SAN), says former President Goodluck Jonathan has given his consent to appear in court during the resumed trial of former National Security Adviser NSA, Sambo Dasuki, over the alleged misappropriation of $2.1 billion arms deal fund. Speaking to Vanguard, Raji said;
“Dr. Goodluck Jonathan will testify in court. He is one of those who will testify and that the statement he made in London appears to be the first phase of the war chest of the ex-NSA. You know the ex-NSA said he acted on Jonathan’s instructions in disbursing some of the cash, and from the look of things, the ex-President is now ready to accept responsibility for whatever Dasuki did. So far, we have secured the consent of Jonathan to appear in court for Dasuki. This will make the trial worth it. Dasuki has a list of highly-placed beneficiaries from the arms cash. A particular traditional ruler got about N500million as a gift from the government through the Office of NSA. There are many hidden beneficiaries whom Nigerians must know. Nigerians will be shocked by some revelations. Nothing short of open trial will let Nigerians know the truth. We are ready for this.”
Jonathan last month in the UK, told Oxford University students that he doesn't believe Dasuki could have stolen $2.1 billion, adding that his administration used the money to buy weapons and ammunition for the prosecution of the war against Boko Haram.

Man Rapes and impregnates his wife's Daughter ...photo

Somethings you just can't deal. Now he and his step-daughter are shifting blames. A 40yrs old man, Victor Emafolomi, has been detained by the police for allegedly r*ping his wife’s daughter.

The suspect, who hails from Delta State, was apprehended on Sunday by the police from the Agbado division after the mother of the teenage girl reported the case.

The girl Keji (real name withheld) lived with her mother and Emafolomi on Olukososi Street, Jafa, Agbado, in Ifo area of Ogun State.
The man was said to have r*ped Keji on two occasions in October, threatening to kill her if she informed her mother.
It was claimed that the first time she was r*ped, Keji was at a shop where she's learning hairdressing within the community when her stepfather called her on phone to come and prepare lunch for him.

While she was cooking, Emafolomi reportedly descended on her and dragged her into the bedroom.

The teenage girl said, “That afternoon, he was drunk. He beat me up when I resisted. I explained to him that he was like a father to me, but he didn’t listen. He used a pillow to cover my mouth and r*ped me. He said he would kill me if I told my mother about the r*pe.

“Two days after, he had s*x with me again. That evening, he beat me up because I insisted that I would tell my mother when she came back from work. He went out and came back with two men after about 30 minutes. The men stared at me and left. He said they would be monitoring my movement and that if I reveal what he did to me, they would kill me.”

The man left home after the second encounter and did not return until about two weeks later.

Before the incident, he had warned a boy called Owolabi to stay away from me because he didn’t want us to have a relationship,” Keji added.

Keji’s mother, Taiwo, told Punch that she was abreast of the time her daughter usually menstruated, and that she became worried last Tuesday, October 24, when Keji did not do so.

“I took her to a clinic in our area and it was confirmed that she was pregnant. I begged her to tell me who impregnated her, but she refused,” Taiwo said.

After much pestering, Keji confided in her mother, who reportedly passed out afterwards.

"I was very shocked, but I could not fault the revelation because my husband had abandoned home for some days and there was no misunderstanding between us. I think it was because of what he did."

However, the man refuted the allegations, saying it was Owolabi, who impregnated Keji.

He said, “I am a driver. I left home because my wife is stubborn; she doesn’t take corrections. I left home to punish her so that she would change for better.

“I never had s*x with her daughter and I didn’t know anything about the pregnancy. I don’t want it aborted. When she is delivered of the baby, we will carry out a DNA test on the baby.”

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ambibola Oyeyemi, said the case would be transferred to the command’s headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

“The victim confirmed that the suspect had carnal knowledge of her several times and the pregnancy test conducted on her was positive,” he added.

See the mansion belonging to a female judge that EFCC is seizing ...photo

A controversial Federal High Court Judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, risks losing mansions said to be worth about N500m if she fails to explain to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission where she got the money to buy the houses.

Impeccable sources within the commission said a mansion located at 18 Lai Ajayi Bembe Street, Parkview Ikoyi, Lagos was traced to the judge while another property on Atlantic Drive, UPDC Estate, Lekki, which has been marked by the EFCC, also belongs to the female judge.

How did a woman who's earning government salary got these properties?

When Punch visited the property located at Ikoyi, it observed that the property which is a two-storey building stands close to the house of a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, who is in the EFCC custody.

A source at the EFCC said the Ikoyi property was searched and incriminating documents were found.

It was learnt that the judge’s property which is a two-storey building with a detached quarters, costs over N350m while the one in Lekki costs over N120m.

The source at the EFCC said, “When we first invited her, she told us that she was ill and had been admitted at the Gold Cross Hospital, Bourdillon, Ikoyi. When we visited the place, we found out that she was not there."

The source continued, “When asked where she got the money to build such a house, she said she got some money from her son who won a case against the London Police. She also gave some explanations which we are trying to verify."
Funny enough, “The Deed of Agreement is in someone else’s name but it carries her signature.”

Speaking further on the second home at Lekki, the detective said the judge claimed the house was not hers but a rented property.

He said, “At the Lekki home located at the UPDC Estate, she claimed the property was rented but we don’t believe it so we have marked the building and it is under investigation.”

In fact, the source said another property in London had been traced to her.

He said the house was hurriedly paid for despite the fact that the mortgage taken on the property was supposed to elapse in 2018.

He said although her name was not written on the title documents, a company allegedly belonging to the judge was used in buying the property.

The source said the property was worth hundreds of thousands of British pounds.

He added, “We found out that she is a director in a company known as Silver Step Incorporated and that was the name used in buying the London property. The property was bought on mortgage and it was supposed to elapse in 2018. However, payment was completed in 2014.”

On Tuesday night, EFCC stumbled on a transaction involving N18m ($120,000 as of 2012) wired to a foreign account from her domiciliary account for the purchase of the London property in 2012.

It would be recalled that same judge, Ofili-Ajumogobia, last year acquitted Femi Fani-Kayode, who had been brought before her by the EFCC for alleged money laundering and embezzlement of funds to the tune of N100m.

Also, following allegations of misconduct levelled against her regarding an election matter, the NJC barred her from receiving any promotion for the remainder of her career.
